Best Series Enders
Read 'em, Loved 'em

Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins: I adored this series. If Collins would have kept writing, I would have kept reading. But I thought Katniss got an ending that was perfect for the books, even if it wasn't perfect for her.
Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer: I know this isn't everyone's cup of tea, but Meyer's series was so timid, I didn't know if she'd actually turn Bella into a vampire. Maybe I give her too much credit by thinking this was a bold choice, but the bottom line re: this whole series is that I would not be here blogging without it. I'd never read YA before it, but one of my friends FORCED me to read it, and that led to more exploration of YA, and eventually to this blog.
Boundless by Cynthia Hand: I was a bit nervous for this series, because I didn't love Hallowed. But Boundless was pretty fantastic. (My reviews of Unearthly, Hallowed, and Boundless.)
These Had Better Be Good...Or ELSE!!

Dreams of Gods & Monsters by Laini Taylor
Just Kidding!
Fifty Days Freed by E.L. James: Well, sort of kidding. Because I read AND reviewed each of these masterpieces. Are you impressed? Bewildered? Embarrassed for me? At your peril, check out my reviews of: Fifty Shades of Grey, Fifty Shades Darker, and Fifty Shades Freed.

I loved Boundless too. I was anxious about reading it, because like you, I wasn't blown away by Hallowed. I thought Mockingjay and Breaking Dawn were okay. They made my somewhere in-between best and worst on my list.
ReplyDeleteHa! Once I saw the These Had Better Be Good...Or ELSE!! section I knew Julie Kagawa was going to be on the list. I'm getting closer and closer to that series on my TBR list. I haven't read the Cynthia Hand series. I'm glad you loved the ending.
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited for Of Gods and Monsters! I love love love the first two. Same with The Forever Song. These are both series I'm in love with. I trust the authors!
ReplyDeleteI still haven't read Boundless and today I've seen it on both best and worst lists. Scared now!
ReplyDeleteI'm actually pretty terrified of Dreams of Gods and Monsters but still looking forward to that. Great list. ;)
ReplyDeleteBreaking Dawn was a great ending, but honestly, I feel like Twilight is a bit taboo so I'm kind of feel embarrassed to admit it. Haha. Guilty pleasure I suppose.
ReplyDeleteSo excited for Gods and Monsters...that cover has grown on me so much. I liked it first time I saw it but now I LOVE it. I agree with Mockingjay.

ReplyDeleteHere's my list http://moniquesmobooks.blogspot.ca/2013/10/top-ten-tuesday-16-bestworst-series.html
I've seen Breaking Dawn on so many worst lists, but it's my favorite in the series. No shame in my love for Twilight! I still am a fan!
ReplyDeleteALSO, totally agree with every one of your BETTER BE GOOD books. Seriously.
I mention all three of these on my list today, although Mockinjay was put on my worst list. Breaking Dawn and Boundless didn't make either my best or worst, but I do talk about both. I agree wholeheartedly with your better-be-good-or-else list!
